I’m looking into completely renovating a small (6′ x 6′) bathroom. This is my plan?
1) Remove all the old fixtures, toilet, sink, tub, tile, everything
2) Knock down a wall to expand it a little
3) Install a new toilet
4) Install a new stand-up shower
5) Install a new sink and vanity
6) Put down all new tile
7) Install a new fan Install a new window
I will do as much of this myself as I can. I assume that I will need to get a plumber in there at some point to hook up the pipes and such.
Question is…how much will this cost me?
My cousin and his wife are in the process of remodeling their bathroom (which is slightly bigger), and they’re doing many of the same things you hope to do.
Aside from knocking down the wall, I would guestimate your total at around $3,500 (especially if you’re doing it yourself). With the wall you’re looking at considerably more, especially if there is plumbing or rewiring that needs to be done.
The entire process for my cousins is ringing in around $6,000 for a full fixture replacement, a new window, fan, new surfacing/sink/mirror/cabinet/toilet — and a 3″ wall adjustment on one side.
